The Exhibition - An Ideal Meeting Place

Québec Exploration’s exhibition component offers a wealth of information. Visit the commercial exhibitors and find out about current and upcoming projects, the latest technological breakthroughs, and a wide range of products and services. Visit the geoscientific exhibitors and learn about their findings and new targets!

The Commercial Exhibition, A New Room!

The exhibition component of Québec Exploration is an ideal meeting place for representatives from every mining activity sector. The Organizing Committee is aware of the commercial exhibition’s popularity, and is pleased to announce that some of the exhibitors will now be close at hand, in the Le Champlain Restaurant. This is a not-to-be-missed event that brings together the mining exploration sector’s main players.

The Geoscientific Knowledge and Information Technology Crossroads

The 2011 edition of Québec Exploration focuses on the importance of knowledge for discovery, and research findings will therefore be a core element of the conference. Every year, research projects led by MRNF geologists and their partners from government, research centres and universities generate large numbers of exploration targets. The government representatives responsible for information technologies in the mining sector will be close at hand, and you can take advantage of this combination of science and information technology to access new knowledge, which is the shortest road to discovery.

SIGEOM

A new version of the SIGEOM application came out in 2010. Substantial modifications have been introduced, marking Géologie Québec’s shift to a database-centric approach in producing geoscientific data, without any major changes for users.

Results after one year of use point to a successful transition and an increased amount of data being generated, in formats more compatible with market standards.

We are also working to optimize the image display, which will boast a new look and offer full-page viewing. You may also have noticed that SIGEOM includes Google technology tools. We are particularly keen on delivering a Google-Map-based search interface. The increasing number of web-based tools that will be available in the coming years will allow greater access to SIGEOM data.

As always, be sure to use SIGEOM data for successful mineral exploration! We invite you to come and meet the SIGEOM team at the Salon Bellevue during Québec Exploration. We welcome your feedback and will be happy to answer your questions.

Potential of Volcanogenic-Associated Massive Sulphide Deposits in Abitibi

An update on potential volcanogenic-associated massive sulphide (VMS) deposits in Abitibi was conducted in 2011 (EP 2011-01). This new model measures the spatial association between 23 geological parameters and a set of 51 VMS mines weighted by productivity. This ModelBuilder process generated 3611 high-favourability zones for VMS, and identified more than 365 unstaked targets as of April 9, 2011.

GESTIM Plus, the mining title management system of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune

The Direction générale de la gestion du milieu minier (mining environment management general directorate - GESTIM) has provided online services to the mining industry for the past eleven years. GESTIM Plus is growing. You can now file surface mineral extraction statements online or renew a prospecting permit.

Track mining activity daily, from claim to mine.

Become a privileged member of GESTIM Plus, the easy way to manage your files. Don’t wait! See you at Québec Exploration 2011.

AQUEST Competition - More Than Ever, Here comes the New Generation of Geoscientists!

As part of a competition organized by AQUEST, earth science students will be able to exhibit the results of their research in poster form. A jury will judge presentations and a cash prize will be awarded to the best one. Competition registration information is available in the AQUEST guide.

The Core Shack

Knowing how important diamond drilling core results are to mineral exploration projects, we have reserved a well-situated hall where you can announce your most impressive drilling results. Adjacent to the Grand Ballroom, the Core Shack is open to prospecting companies. Single or double tables can be rented for one to three days, depending on your needs.

Want to show your core samples? A few tables are still available, so hurry!

Prospector's Room

Once again this year, the Québec Mineral Exploration Association invites its prospector members to present their findings and their sites’ potential. Come meet them in rooms 131, 133, 135 and 137. They will be happy to present their projects.
