Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide Deposits: The Issue from Top to Bottom

Jim Franklin, Ph.D., a world-renowned scientist specializing in the study of volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits (Cu-Zn-Pb-Au-Ag)

Lode Gold Deposits: Analysis and Implications for Exploration

The workshop will focus on the mechanisms of vein formation and their organization, the role of deformation, as well as their paragenesis and zonality. The workshop will also cover geometric processing with examples from test cases and a data processing exercise.

The Mining Environment: From Exploration to Mining

The workshop will begin by addressing the technical aspects of the formation and prevention of acid mine drainage. The various assay predictions will be explained so participants can judge the results. Certain management models as well as recent developments will be covered. Part of the afternoon will be devoted to the legal aspects, and the standard procedures for obtaining environmental permits will be presented. A presentation of real-life examples will conclude the workshop.

Interactive Sessions

The New Mining Restoration Guide in Québec

Direction du développement et du milieu minier (MRNF)

The 1997 report entitled Guide et modalités de restauration des sites miniers au Québec (Guide and Methods for Mining Site Restoration in Québec) has been updated and will be the subject of a presentation and discussion with industry players. The session will feature the restoration of abandoned sites such as Manitou, Eustis, and Aldermac.

*3-D Geological Modeling in Support of Mineral Exploration: A Management Perspective

Specially designed for mineral exploration project leaders, this workshop presents the various concepts associated with 3D geologic modeling for identifying target drillholes. The workshop will address key notions for developing this type of expertise in a mineral exploration company from a conceptual, technical, and labor standpoint.
